Panoramic Bowls and Scene Mugs
How to order a piece...
NOTICE: Commissions are on hiatus for now. If you are interested, feel free to contact me, and we can discuss when I might be able to do it.
What are the prices? How do I pay?
I charge by the amount of detail in the scene, so the price varies. I will give the price after seeing what you would like me to do.
One-sided mugs: $40-$65
Two-sided mugs: $60-$100
Panoramic bowls: $500-$900
For mugs, I take $30 when the request is made and the rest on completion.
For panoramic bowls, I take $300 when the request is made and the rest on completion.
I use Square for billing. I will I will email an invoice to you for a down payment upon accepting the commission, and another for the rest of the price upon completion.
If something happens so that I cannot complete the piece (such as the piece breaking), I will either make another, or I will return your down payment.
What is the process for getting a panoramic bowl?
If you live within an hour of Zeeland, MI, I can come to the property that is to be on the bowl and take pictures myself. If you live further than that away, it may be possible for me to work from photos and video that you make. I will make up a draft of the full scene on my computer and have you OK it before carving and firing the bowl. I will inform you when it is complete, and ship it or schedule a time for you to pick it up.
Before the photo shoot:
-Think of what you want on the bowl (including getting photos of things from the past, or from other seasons, such as gardens that you would like added in).
-If you have trees near your home that might block the view, consider scheduling for me to come and take pictures when the leaves are off the trees. I can draw leaves on the trees when carving it if you don’t want a winter scene.
What is the process for getting an etched mug?
Send me an image (one that you have the rights to, if you want me to copy it directly) or a verbal request (eg. “a mug with cardinals and trillium flowers”). I will confirm that I have received the request and let you know when it is ready.
***Important Note: I do not take requests for human portraits at this time.
When can I expect my piece ready?
The studio where I rent kiln space usually runs a firing every two to three months, but I can’t guarantee that. If you are planning to give it as a present, I recommend ordering it at least 8 months early. I will let you know if there are other commissions in front of you when you send a request.
How do I get the finished piece?
Once I inform you that it is finished, you can tell me if you would like it shipped or if you would like to pick it up in Zeeland, MI. I will them send you an invoice with final price. Then I will ship it or we can schedule a time for you to pick it up.
Color choice
At this time I only offer dark brown and blue for etched pieces.
